Seriously beyond pissed off right now, though. George Clooney’s nominated for The Descendants. I haven’t seen it, to be fair, but I’ve seen enough Clooney movies to know that he is nearly ALWAYS - when all is said and done - playing himself. Andy Serkis played an ape with human (or beyond) intelligence. He had to study chimp behavior AND balance it out with subtle actions that showed off Caesar’s unnaturally high intelligence. Motion capture IS acting, and Serkis is a master.
I’m not watching the fucking ceremony this year.

I completely agree with you. Serkis was legitimately robbed this year. I’ve seen The Descendents and Clooney turns in a great performance, but Clooney, is always, is Clooney. He’s great, but not great enough to have edged out Serkis.
